Food Safety

We're invested in making sure that every aspect of our business is safe and ethical

We do that by raising the bar when it comes to quality standards, by ensuring that our state-of-the-art facility is always clean and maintained.

Not only that, we perform zero-tolerance inspections to verify that our sanitary procedures have been 100% effective on each and every carcass that goes through our facility.

Additionally, we also utilize an electronic record-keeping system and a rolling pre-shipment review. We’re also regulated by 2 branches of the federal government, the USDA and FSIS, which help us ensure that every cut of meat is safe and sanitary.

Lastly, upon entering any cut room at our facility, each employee will enter through a hygiene wash down station. This ensures that no pathogens are transmitted to our products.

Grass Fed. Grain Finished.

Our grass-fed cattle are 100% free of antibiotics, with no mrna vaccines, and are USDA Inspected

Our cattle maintain a diet that is derived solely from forage, which consists of grass, forbs, legumes, or cereal grain throughout their entire lifespan.

Unlike confined feeding operations, Hertzog Meat Co. grassfed cattle are able to graze pastures and meadows and sustain a smaller carbon footprint. This makes our operation much more eco-friendly and sustainable than other operations, just as mother nature intended them to be. If you want premium quality beef that leaves you feeling good about what you’re eating, look no further.

Our Staff

The best in the business

The Hertzog Meat Co. family takes pride in being small, yet mighty.

Our employees are the backbone of our operation, and making sure they’re properly trained and taken care of is essential to our success.

Part of our success? We pay higher than industry standard wages with benefits, allowing us to staff highly trained meat cutting professionals from around the Midwest. These motivated individuals excel at attention to detail in every aspect of our facility.

The dedication, care, and passion that our team brings to work every single day are what truly sets them apart, and it’s what allows us to provide top quality products and service.

We're Cattle Raisers

Wholesale meats, straight from the source

At Hertzog Meat Co., we proudly partner with cattle raisers to offer a top-notch butchering experience. As a local company, we emphasize offering wholesale, dry-aged meats to customers all throughout the Kansas City area. Raised from grass-fed and grain-finished livestock raised and cared for here in Missouri, our beef cuts are as locally sourced as you’ll find.

Working with cattle producers

We understand the frustrations and roadblocks associated with the custom butchering experience.

As cattle producers, Hertzog Meat Co. is committed to helping our fellow ranchers by providing them with a first-class butchering experience for their livestock, in order to fill their freezers with their beef or sell private label.

Local service. Superior quality.

When partnering with Hertzog Meat Co., you’re working with people who care about serving our community on top of selling a local premium product.

We take pride in doing things the right way and believe that everyone should know where their food is coming from. In an industry that’s gone corporate and cuts corners wherever possible, Hertzog Meat Co. is forging a different path.

Dedicated service throughout the area

Hertzog Meat Co. takes immense pride in being a local business that produces everything within close proximity to our headquarters. We care about serving the people that make up this area, and that’s why we emphasize selling quality meats at an affordable price.

From the bright lights of Kansas City to the rural towns of Northwest Missouri, we’re proud to serve the communities that have shaped us.

Sustainability

Keeping our footprint as small as possible

We are proud to say that over 70% of the feed Hertzog Farms cattle consume is grown and harvested within 5 miles of the feeding operation.

All of the cattle are born, pastured, and fed within close proximity of our home base. As a result, very little transportation is needed, leaving a footprint unparalleled in the beef business.

We aren’t a corporation hiding behind a brand trying to sell a story. We are the Brand! Our slaughter volume is very low allowing our team to inspect and monitor procedures mandated by the Federal Government. We utilize an electronic record-keeping system and a rolling pre-shipment review.

Another key aspect of our operation is our commitment to sustainability. We repurpose all cattle manure as natural fertilizer for our crop fields. In turn, we incorporate ground corn stalks from those same fields into our cattle feed rations, creating a responsible, closed-loop system that supports both land and livestock.
